A Burst of Color

As a little background of today's post, a couple years ago, my friend Erin talked me into running with her to get ready to do the Tucson 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles), as well as the PF Chang's 1/2 marathon. Erin is an avid runner, and she wanted me to join in the fun... grrr... :) (how nice of her, right?) ha!
Well... fast forward two years, and now Erin and I are both married, I have Dane and she and Dan have a baby on the way as well! Before the baby came, she wanted to get one more race in. So, we chose one that uses the term 'race' VERY lightly!

Today was the 'Color Run', a 5k, 3.1 miles I believe, in Tempe. Every half mile, the participants will get 'showered' in different colored powder. The only 'rule' of the race is that you had to wear a white shirt! By the end, everyone is a mess, and it seemed like a fun 'race' for the whole family.
So, Erin and I talked other friends into joining us for the fun day out! Here we are...ready to start! All white!! This is also Dane's first 'race'! :)

First section... YELLOW!!

Here Comes Green!

PURPLE!

Last but not least pink.. Event coordinators ran out of pink powder, but this lady had a very creative way to get some! Powder Angels!

Bret proved, yet again he's such a great dad by keeping Dane warm, safe, and 'out of the line of fire'. :) There's not a day that goes by that I don't realize how thankful I am to have not only a great husband but a great daddy for my little boy.

After the run, participants were given their own powder to throw into the air for a burst of color cloud effect. This picture doesn't do it justice.... it was pretty sweet in person!

A few 'after' shots... Fun times!

Just to compare... Before and After!

In conclusion, today was an amazing day! But it wasn't the race that made it so great.... It was spending time with my favorite people including my favorite little boy, husband and great friends!

We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do....

If anyone knows us, you know that Bret is a die hard NY football Giants fan! So, March 20, 2010 (the date of our wedding) I became a die hard fan too... It's easy now, thanks to Victoria's Secret for making cute NFL, and other sports clothing. :) haha!
As the regular season came to an end, it was unsure if the Giants were even going to make the playoffs, so needless to say, the last 4 weekends of football games in our house have been very stressful!

Luckily, the Giants beat the Cowboys (sorry Carlos), to enter the playoffs, the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the playoffs, and then the Green Bay Packers (sorry Amanda and Karen) in the next round. The Packers had a great season this year, so it was SO great that the Giants could pull out a win! Tomorrow the G-men play the 49ers, in the division championship!
Speaking of the Super Bowl, my brother Ryan is the luckiest man in the world, as he has tickets! So awesome, not only seeing the game, but.... hello???? Madonna is performing!! (Not quite sure why he doesn't care to much about that part) haha!! :)

"Im going to the SUPER BOWL!!!"

Go Giants!

If , excuse me....When they win, the next step is the SUPER BOWL! Keep your fingers crossed for me, as no wife likes a grumpy, sad husband after their team loses.

Happy New Year!

The holiday week started with Dane getting a cold... It's really the worst to know that your baby is not feeling well, and there was nothing I could do. He was very stuffed, coughing, and watery eyes. This was the first time he's ever been sick, so maybe I was a bit more nervous than I should have been. I took him to the Dr., and she said that it was just a cold, and he will get many more this season. Baby colds can last up to 10 days, and then come back within 3 days. So, basically he will be not feeling 100% for the rest of winter. :( She told us to use saline drops down his nose, to pull out the mucus, a humidifier, and baby vicks on his chest. All have been working well. Along with extra cuddles from Mommy! <3 We had AMAZING New Year's Plans, to attend a friend's progressive Asian dinner. But once Dane got sick we didn't think it was a good idea to take him out... booo... I guess this is just one sacrific mom's and dad's make! Oh well... Thanks Taryn and Brian for the invite! We hope to get together with you both very soon. Instead, we just hung out together at our house. We took an extra long family walk in the afternoon (can you believe it was 77 degrees here on NY eve?, crazy), and played some games, watched the countdown on Tv at night. I'm so embarrassed to admit that I didn't even stay up until midnight. Geez.. what a loser. Oh well... I'm happy not to be tired or hungover this New Year's day. That hasn't happened in years!! haha!! Oh motherhood! :) I also took out the camera and had a mini photo shoot with my little babe. He's getting so big! Can't believe he's almost 3 months. Time is going by so fast. And we're enjoying every minute!

Bumbo chair time! Thanks G-Pa Royce for this great gift... He's really getting good about holding his head up. But can't keep him in there for too long... it's too much on his tummy. :(

Fun with a sign... Watch out!

Hope you all have a great year!

2011... a year in review

Wow! Can not believe 2011 has come and gone. We started out 2011 with big plans... buy another house, and try to have a baby. We also knew that we had a very busy year of traveling, since Bret's two sisters were getting married, and our BFF's Dan and Erin were also getting married. We knew 2011 was going to be busy... AND WE were right!! We found out I was pregnant on Jan. 26th- making that one goal to cross off the list. :)

We were so happy... just couldn't believe it. In February we starting seriously looking for a new house, located in South Chandler, just about 10 minutes away from where we were currently located. Our hopes in this new house that it would be 'the house' that we would raise our family in.

In May, we traveled to Nebraska, Bret's homeland to be apart of his sister Tami and Jesse's wedding. Bret was a groomsmen for Jesse. We love being able to spend the time with family, and were so happy for Tami and Jesse!

June took us to Durango, Colorado to be apart of Dan and Erin's wedding. Erin is my BFF and she was the maid of honor in my wedding, and I was honored when she asked me to return the favor for her. Bret was a HUGE part of this wedding, as he was the officiator of the ceremony! Dan and Erin's wedding was special to us because we've been a part of their love from the beginning! I remember their first date, we were there for the proposal, and all the events that a wedding offers!

In the midst of Erin and Dan's wedding we were closing on the house... quite the stressful time for Bret! I was lucky enough that he took on the house responsibilities- stress and pregnancy is not a good mix! :)

At the end of June, we went back to Colorado for Bret's younger sister Sarah's wedding. They were married outside of Colorado Springs @ Palmer Lake. Such a beautiful scene for a wedding!

What a fun way to spend a summer, celebrating love with people that mean so much to us! We are so happy for all three couples! <3

After all the weddings, it was 'go-time' for all the repairs that needed to be done to the house before we actually moved in. We managed to get all work done in 2 weeks, and were able to move in July 9th! It was good timing for us, as we still had time to settle in before our babe came in October.

Fast forward to October, baby Dane arrived! With that, Nana and Papa came in from NE, as well as Tami and his dad Royce.

Whew! What an exciting year 2011 was for us! We have so much to be thankful for. We look forward to 2012, and the joys it will bring to us.
